SAFETY TRAINING FOR CREW ON BOARD SHIP

In response to the need for a maritime industry and in particular the safety training program for personnel employed on vessels, Wetecho Marine established a proactive response required to improve on board safety, with actions covering a wide range of specific topics relating to:

• Safety of shipboard operations

• Safety equipment

• Safety management systems

• Emergency response

• Emergency drills

The duration of the program, could be tuned in line with clients need and vessel operation and could be executed to the crew employed in navigation; however, there is the possibility of providing structured support for a process of continuous improvement and training that constantly raises the knowledge and competence of the concerned personnel.

In order to comply with the goal to be achieved, the concerned instructors will carry out specific coaching based on a training needs assessment and identification of subject areas to be addressed following a preliminary:

  • Inspection of the vessel
  • Consultation with ship’s Master and ship’s Crew.

The assessment of training needs is a fundamental objective in a process of improving skills and enhancing safety.

Essential elements of such a process are the following phases:

(a)  Audit of the ship and assess its state of maintenance, efficiency, reliability

(b) Assessment of the crew’s preparedness for emergency management

For the first phase (a), a thorough physical inspection of the ship is required, with the help of appropriate checklists that can analyze every technical and structural aspect of the ship

For the assessment of emergency management skills and readiness (b), the most appropriate system is the performance of emergency management drills.

A very sensitive phase following an accident, near miss or emergency is that of regaining control of the situation and activities advice.

Remote 24/7 assistance is also available to support the ships Crew and Managers for any circumstances.
